What it is, and where it comes from
Castellaccio is at the top of the farm's red wine list, and this is its magnum: one and a half liters, the size for the long table. In a large bottle, the wine has less oxygen per unit volume, and that is why magnum bottles are kept.
IGT Toscana from the hills between Crespina Lorenzana and Fauglia, on tuffaceous and siliceous soils between eighty and two hundred meters. Manual harvesting, selection of grapes in the field, minimal cellar intervention.

Who makes it, and where
Fattoria Uccelliera, in Crespina Lorenzana.
Made on the Pisan hills.
Two hundred and forty hectares between Crespina Lorenzana and Fauglia, twenty-one of them vineyard and olive grove.
“Uccelliera” is a medieval place name: it marked the hill where an old bird-catching stand once stood, a set-up for taking migrating birds. Today that same piece of hill does the opposite, and the arable land is farmed with the wildlife that passes through in mind.
