Collection Gioielli Classici·Orecchini·Cluster setting
Daisy earrings in white gold, eight diamonds around the central brilliant-cut diamond
Nine diamonds per earring, one at the center and eight in a ring around it, within eight millimeters and thirty of diameter.
Drawn and built by hand at the bench, in Tosi.
At the center of each earring sits a brilliant, and eight smaller diamonds make a circle around it. The metal is barely visible: only the claws, small spheres that come up between one stone and the next and hold two at a time. There is no plate behind. The setting is open, and through the small rings that carry the stones you can see the points of the diamonds; the only solid part is the post with the butterfly back.
Two grams and fifty-three of eighteen-carat white gold. The diamonds are natural: thirty points of a carat for the center ones, color E-F and clarity VS1; fifty-three points for the surround, color E-F and clarity VVS. Eighty-three points in all. Each cluster measures eight millimeters and thirty across, and in those eight millimeters there are nine stones: that is why the center one, read inside its ring, looks larger than it is.

How it is made
The words of the trade, one by one, explained to those who do not know them.
- Cluster setting
- The cluster, «entourage» in the French catalogs, is a circle of small stones mounted around a larger one. The eye does not measure the center stone on its own: it reads it together with the ring around it, and sees it larger than it is. That is why the setting has been used for centuries, and it is also its difficulty: the seats of the surround all have to be at the same height and at the same distance from the center, because a single one out of plane breaks the circle, and in a circle the error shows before anything else.
- Brilliant cut
- Fifty-seven facets calculated so that the light entering from above comes back out the same way. It is the cut that makes a diamond sparkle, and the reason a badly cut diamond stays dead.
I don't look at what others are doing: I would rather create in my own style. That is what makes our jewelry recognizable.

Made for you
Every piece leaves the bench made to order: sizes and details are agreed before the work begins.
The goldsmith's workshop is also the place where made-to-measure jewellery is created and family pieces are restored: if you have an idea, or something you want brought back to how it was, that is where it starts.
A goldsmith's workshop in Tosi, on the slopes of the Pratomagno: Anna opened it in 1988, her sons Fabio and Francesco carry it on. Piercing, repoussé, chasing and burin engraving — the Florentine school, with the workshop in full view of the shop.
