Designed, built and finished inside the workshop, in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa.

The piece

Sixty-five centimeters across, the glass top inside the frame and the band decorated by hand with gold details. The four legs are fluted and taper to a small foot, which on a round of this size is what keeps it light.

Fifty-four or forty-four high: the first size goes beside an armchair, the second in front of a sofa, and they are not interchangeable. On a small round the band is short, and the decoration has to be compressed without losing the design: it is harder than on a large table, where the same motif has room to breathe.

How it is made

The finish is the craft: lacquer and gold leaf are the two steps almost everyone subcontracts, and here they stay in house.

The workshop

L'ARTES

An art furniture workshop in Sambuca, founded in Firenze, in San Frediano, in 1968 by two young artisans trained by the masters of woodcarving. The whole cycle stays inside: the drawing, the unfinished piece, the lacquering, the decoration and the hand gilding. Three lines — Classico, Contemporary and Antica Firenze — and every piece built to the measurements of whoever orders it.
