This beer

What it is, and what is in it

Six degrees, dark amber with ruby reflections. The brewery indicates it as their first production: the one made before there was a brewery to call it such.

In the recipe, alongside barley malt, there are muscovado sugar and maltodextrins. The muscovado brings a dark molasses note; the maltodextrins maintain the body without adding fermentable sweetness, which is why the beer is full-bodied without being cloying. On the nose, caramel, biscuit, and dried fruit – hazelnut and almond. On the palate, caramel and a light toastiness, and the finish remains sweet.

First place at Beer of the Year in 2011, second in 2018, third in 2019.

How it is made
Production, maturation, and packaging take place at the facility on via Cimarosa, in Livorno, where the brewery also hosts guided tours and tastings. The brewery presents itself as craft: under Italian law, the term mandates a non-pasteurized and non-microfiltered beer, produced by an independent brewery. The catalog is divided into three declared categories - Core Range, Year Round, The Fun Part - depending on whether the beer is always available, matures for a long time, or is a one-time release.
