Collection Gioielli di Firenze·Anello·Florentine mesh work
Domed ring in white gold, openwork mesh with diamonds
A pierced dome, and a brilliant in every mesh.
Drawn and built by hand at the bench, in Tosi.
The band is not flat: it swells towards the center like a dome, and on that dome the piercing leaves nothing solid. The openings cross in four points, and in the middle of every mesh a brilliant is set. The edge of every hole is beaded, and it is that thread of grains that makes the light vibrate even where there is no diamond.
Thirteen grams thirty of eighteen-carat white gold: it is a ring you feel on the finger, and the dome is the reason for that weight. The natural diamonds come to one carat six points in all, color F and clarity VVS. It comes with the certificate attesting its specifications, in the gift box.

How it is made
The words of the trade, one by one, explained to those who do not know them.
- Openwork
- The metal is drilled and then cut from the inside with a very fine piercing saw, until the solid sheet becomes a design of voids. It is a technique that allows no second attempt: what is taken away does not come back.
- Mesh work
- The piercing does not make a single hole: it makes a regular mesh of them, and every mesh has to carry the weight of the others. Getting one cut wrong means weakening the whole net.
- Doming
- The band is domed towards the center, so the ring is not a cylinder but a dome. On a curved surface the piercing changes pitch every millimeter: the mesh has to be redrawn as it is being cut, because what is regular on the flat is no longer so on the curve.
- Brilliant cut
- Fifty-seven facets calculated so that the light entering from above comes back from the same side. It is the cut that makes a diamond sparkle, and the reason a badly cut diamond stays dull.
I don't look at what others are doing: I would rather create in my own style. That is what makes our jewelry recognizable.

Made for you
Every ring is made to the size of the person who will wear it: we settle it together before work begins.
The goldsmith's workshop is also the place where made-to-measure jewellery is created and family pieces are restored: if you have an idea, or something you want brought back to how it was, that is where it starts.
A goldsmith's workshop in Tosi, on the slopes of the Pratomagno: Anna opened it in 1988, her sons Fabio and Francesco carry it on. Piercing, repoussé, chasing and burin engraving — the Florentine school, with the workshop in full view of the shop.
