Collection Fiore d'Inverno·Anello
Twelve grams of bronze, and at the center of the blackened corolla a dark red garnet
Drawn and built by hand at the bench, in Tosi.
A bronze corolla laid flat over the finger, taken from a single sheet and hollowed until it becomes a low cup. The rim has been left wavy, with the indentations where the metal folded, and there the surface is left polished: it makes a light ring all the way round. Inside the cup the ground is sandblasted and blackened, and against the black the furrows that run from the center pick up the light one by one. In the middle, in a plain bezel, a round faceted garnet of a dark red: it is the only colored thing on the ring. The shank is round and solid, beaten with the hammer all the way round.
Twelve grams of bronze, the whole piece. In the Fiore d'Inverno collection the corollas are silver; here the metal is bronze, and at the bench it does not behave the same way — it is harder, it work-hardens sooner under the blow that hollows it, and in the air it goes on darkening by itself. The black of the ground is not that, though: it is given on purpose inside the cup, and then only the rim is brought back to polish, so that the red of the stone has something to stand out against. The cup is hollow underneath — from behind you can see the foot of the setting — and the seat of the stone is the one point that must have stayed flat. The garnet is closed there cold: a sudden change of heat cracks it. Presentation box included.

The words of the trade, one by one, explained to those who do not know them.
I don't look at what others are doing: I would rather create in my own style. That is what makes our jewelry recognizable.
Fabio Gori — Anna Gioielli, Tosi
Every ring is made to the size of the person who will wear it: we settle it together before the work begins.
The goldsmith's workshop is also the place where made-to-measure jewellery is created and family pieces are restored: if you have an idea, or something you want brought back to how it was, that is where it starts.
A goldsmith's workshop in Tosi, on the slopes of the Pratomagno: Anna opened it in 1988, her sons Fabio and Francesco carry it on. Piercing, repoussé, chasing and burin engraving — the Florentine school, with the workshop in full view of the shop.
