Collection Creazioni in Argento·Anello·Plate setting on an open back with wrapped wire
Eleven grams and ten of silver around a tall, domed morganite: the pink shows because the stone is thick.
Drawn and built by hand at the bench, in Tosi.
The pink is pale and it is not laid on evenly: inside the dome run white veils and a few threads barely warmer, which shift as soon as the hand moves. The light does not come back as sparkle — it stays on the curved surface in a single long reflection that slides from one end of the oval to the other. The stone is tall and domed, roughed out and polished without a single facet, and on its own it covers almost the whole width of the knuckle. Holding it there is a sheet of silver closed all around the outline, but underneath there is no back: the setting is open, and from behind you see the flat base of the gem entire. Around the sheet runs a second round silver wire, turning parallel to the rim at a constant distance and ending in two beads laid side by side. The shank is smooth and polished, and before reaching beneath the setting it opens into two arms.
Eleven grams and ten of silver at nine hundred and twenty-five thousandths, and almost all of it is in the setting and the wire that turns around it: the shank, by comparison, is thin. Morganite is beryl, the same mineral species as emerald and aquamarine, and its pink comes from manganese that entered the lattice while the crystal was growing. It is a color you see through the thickness the light passes through: on a thin stone it would disappear, and that is why morganite is cut large, or roughed out as a cabochon as it is here, where the dome gives it all the thickness it needs. In hardness beryl sits between seven and a half and eight and stands up to everyday wear, but inside it can hold veils and fractures — here you can see them against the light — and on those a sharp knock does more damage than the hardness would suggest. The dimensions of the stone and the carat weight are not declared by the company, and we do not add them.

The words of the trade, one by one, explained to those who do not know them.
I don't look at what others are doing: I would rather create in my own style. That is what makes our jewelry recognizable.
Fabio Gori — Anna Gioielli, Tosi
Every ring is made in the size of the person who will wear it: we settle it together before the work begins.
The goldsmith's workshop is also the place where made-to-measure jewellery is created and family pieces are restored: if you have an idea, or something you want brought back to how it was, that is where it starts.
A goldsmith's workshop in Tosi, on the slopes of the Pratomagno: Anna opened it in 1988, her sons Fabio and Francesco carry it on. Piercing, repoussé, chasing and burin engraving — the Florentine school, with the workshop in full view of the shop.
