Chemex 2-cup with 100 filters

The filter coffeemaker designed in 1941 by Peter Schlumbohm, a German chemist who moved to the United States — and it's clear a chemist designed it: it's a funnel on a flask. The glass is non-porous borosilicate, so it doesn't retain odors or residues; the spout is designed to cover, refrigerate, and reheat coffee without losing flavor.

Capacity four hundred and fifty milliliters, two cups. It is used with seven to ten grams of rather coarse grounds for every one hundred milliliters of water, between ninety and ninety-five degrees, poured over the filter and allowed to drip through. Packaged with one hundred filters. Glass, wood, and leather; twenty-one and a half by thirteen centimeters. Produced in Massachusetts.
