Designed, built and finished inside the workshop, in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa.

The piece

A meter forty of bowed front, with drawers that follow the curve and sides that step back. On the gilded ground the panels are painted by hand: one per drawer, closed by a shaped frame, and inside a different bunch of flowers each time.

A curved drawer does not run on a straight slide: the front is round, the carcase behind is square, and the joint between the two decides whether the drawer opens smoothly or jams. Fifty-five centimeters deep by ninety high, and the Botticino fiorito marble top comes with the taps.

How it is made

The finish is the craft: lacquer and gold leaf are the two steps almost everyone subcontracts, and here they stay in house.

The workshop

L'ARTES

An art furniture workshop in Sambuca, founded in Firenze, in San Frediano, in 1968 by two young artisans trained by the masters of woodcarving. The whole cycle stays inside: the drawing, the unfinished piece, the lacquering, the decoration and the hand gilding. Three lines — Classico, Contemporary and Antica Firenze — and every piece built to the measurements of whoever orders it.
