Designed, built and finished inside the workshop, in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa.

The piece

A radiator is the ugliest thing in a beautiful room, and the radiator cover exists for that. The top has a pierced grille that lets the heat rise, the front is a hand-painted panel, and the front panel opens for inspections — without taking anything apart.

It is the piece that more than any other is made to measure: the dimensions are dictated by the radiator, and there is no catalog size. The grille is the part that decides whether it works: too closed and the room stays cold, too open and it no longer covers anything. On top there is a surface, which is what you gain besides what you hide.

How it is made

The finish is the craft: lacquer and gold leaf are the two steps almost everyone subcontracts, and here they stay in house.

The workshop

L'ARTES

An art furniture workshop in Sambuca, founded in Firenze, in San Frediano, in 1968 by two young artisans trained by the masters of woodcarving. The whole cycle stays inside: the drawing, the unfinished piece, the lacquering, the decoration and the hand gilding. Three lines — Classico, Contemporary and Antica Firenze — and every piece built to the measurements of whoever orders it.
