Designed, built and finished inside the workshop, in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa.
The piece
Brushwork allows no second pass over the same spot: the trace adds up, and where you have gone back a heavier mark comes out. On two doors of a meter and a half each, that means crossing the whole front without stopping. Seventy-two centimeters deep, which is more than a hinged wardrobe: a sliding one asks for it, because the doors slide in front of the carcass and steal space inside.
How it is made
The finish is the craft: lacquer and gold leaf are the two steps almost everyone subcontracts, and here they stay in house.

The workshop
L'ARTES
An art furniture workshop in Sambuca, founded in Firenze, in San Frediano, in 1968 by two young artisans trained by the masters of woodcarving. The whole cycle stays inside: the drawing, the unfinished piece, the lacquering, the decoration and the hand gilding. Three lines — Classico, Contemporary and Antica Firenze — and every piece built to the measurements of whoever orders it.
