Designed, built and finished inside the workshop, in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa.

The piece

Above the two doors there is an upper box: a tall band that runs the full width and takes back the space between the top of the wardrobe and the ceiling. It is the part that is usually missing, and it is why this piece reaches two meters thirty-eight instead of stopping at two ten.

A wardrobe with an upper box is built in two pieces that are assembled in the home: the body, and the box that sits on top of it. The joint between the two has to disappear, and it only disappears if the cornice that separates them is deep enough to cast a shadow. One meter eighty wide by sixty-seven deep, with brown and silver details on the edges.

How it is made

The finish is the craft: lacquer and gold leaf are the two steps almost everyone subcontracts, and here they stay in house.

The workshop

L'ARTES

An art furniture workshop in Sambuca, founded in Firenze, in San Frediano, in 1968 by two young artisans trained by the masters of woodcarving. The whole cycle stays inside: the drawing, the unfinished piece, the lacquering, the decoration and the hand gilding. Three lines — Classico, Contemporary and Antica Firenze — and every piece built to the measurements of whoever orders it.
