A solid oval, pierced through the middle and polished, hung from a braided cord in the same colour. Above the pendant sits an oval bead that holds it in place and gives it something to rest against: it is the only detail, and it is enough.
There are six in the photograph, laid out one beside the other: midnight blue, mustard, red, black, white, fuchsia. The cord has no clasp, it goes over the head.
This is the piece you put on over a dark jumper and that can be seen from across the room.

Antonella Dondoli and her daughter Cristina Ulivi have been making handmade costume jewelry for more than fifteen years: hardstone, pearls, crystals, Murano glass and resin. The business, L'Arte di Creare, dates from 2012 and is based in Firenze. The stall travels between markets and fairs, in Tuscany and beyond.
