The silver is oxidized in the recesses and re-polished on the veins, as in all Marte pieces, and through the empty spaces, the yellow of the stud behind is visible. Below, hanging from a small ring that allows it to dangle, there is a cap of the same silver, perforated with craters, with some small round dots on the raised parts: it closes over the shoulder of the drop and holds it. The drop is made of amethyst, long and tapered, and has no facets: it is a continuous, polished surface, narrowing at the top and rounded at the bottom.
